I am almost finished with my skull. I finished making the white smudges on my skull. I just have to add a background.
Monday, December 5, 2011
12-5-11 GD
I have gotten a little more done. I have two steps left. The step I'm on right now i do believe takes the longest. I'm putting white on my skull so it looks like its gleaming.

12-1-11 GD
I worked on my chocolate skull. I'm not getting very far. It is tedious work to make smudges look like you want them to. I'm on the last couple steps. It doesn't really look like the one they did though.

I think they hide things in their design to give people something to do when they are bored. In the Marlboro cigarette packages they hide i think it's 4 K's in their design. They also have to upside down men.

We finished all of our editing. We had to drag out some of the non-talking clips to make it long enough. We also added music to the non-talking clips.

We finished filming. My team is not very smart. They decided to have me read a script and drive. It worked but not safe.
11-22-11 VP
We are fixing the script. We are gonna go out and shoot. We don't have Lexi so its gonna be a little challenging.

11-21-11 VP
We finished our scripts. We started shooting our video. I almost purposely hit Austin with my pick up twice. We still have more filming to do but we are getting there.
11-21-11 VP
We are going to try to get the scripts done. We have two of the scripts done. We have to stay on task and i think thats about it.

11-17-11 VP
We got some of the script done. We are still working on it. We mostly stayed on task. For the last like five minutes i picked on Kayleb.
11-17-11 VP
We are hopefully going to finish our scripts. I have to read the pages you've assigned. I also have to stay on task. Kind of a hard thing to do.
11-17-11 GD
We went over the tests. Then i looked you my house on google maps. I also looked at your pictures with Kaitlyn.

11-16-11 VP
We started our two column script. We started our story board. We decided to what pick-up to use.
11-15-11 VP
We are going to work on the script and the story board. We can accomplish this by staying on task. Also by my knee allowing me to put pressure on it.
11-16-11 GD
We did our bell work then took a test. It didn't take that long for me to do the test. It was fairly easy. After i took the text i looked at the lighting picture you put on your blog and then worked on my chocolate skull.
11-16-11 GD
The most interesting thing i learned in our group discussion is about the color wheel difference between pastels and lights. Pastels are paints, markers, crayons, etc. There primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. If you add all the pastels together you get black. Light's primary colors are blue, green, and red. If you add all of the light colors together you get white.

Illusion has many different parts. There is scale which is the size of one shape or object in relation to another. Volume- the illusion of a form with mass or weight. There is also picture plane, illusion of spatial depth, perspective, and tompe l' oeil.

We finished the proposal and treatment. Lexi and i tried to understand what we are doing. Austin and Casey were writing the treatment and proposal. We just have to get approval from you.
11-14-11 VP
We are going to hopefully finish our proposal and treatment. We need to stay on task and work. I also need to read out of my book thing.
11-14-11 GD
We read like we do everyday. I worked on my chocolate skull. I'm not getting very far but only because I'm confused on how to work the smudge tool. Every time i try to do what they are asking it turns out looking mental.
11-14-11 GD
Rhythm in graphic design is understanding the difference between repetition and variation. You have to have a sense that things move from one picture to the next. Unity is when the elements look like they belong together. You have to organize visual elements and establish a common bond among them.

11-10-11 VP
We are about almost done with the proposal. The treatment is coming along. I didn't get any reading done. Casey and Austin are working on the proposal and treatment. Lexi and I just kind of sat there and watched the whole time.
11-10-11 VP
We are going to finish the treatment and proposal. We will have to have everyone on task. I also need to read the pages you assigned.

You can use texture to change the mood by giving it a different tactile or visual texture. The visual texture of the boxes kind of sets a nature quality and i sense of tranquility. As to when you have have the visual texture of the bicycle. It gives more of a rough and unsafe feeling.

We are going to do a video on testing random vehicles. Casey is working on the treatment. Austin is working on the proposal. Lexi and i are reading the pages you assigned.
11-9-11 VP
The end of yesterday i attempted to read from your book seeing how computers hate me. I didn't get very far seeing how Travis Smith hole punched the book wrong. I re punched the holes in the book and put them in the right order.
Today i think we are going to work on the treatment and proposal some more. We need to decide what we are even do the video on. We also need to not get off track and stay working to get this accomplished.

Today we went over color. I worked on my devil's eye when we finished reading. I had a hard time figuring out how to make the edge of the pupil look like i wanted it to and ended up going back and redoing it several times until i got it to where i wouldn't totally freak because it wasn't exact. It's hard but fun work.
11-7-11 GD
Advantages of keeping a source book would be giving you ideas on what to do. You could put clippings of things you liked. Articles that caught your eye with a neat design or cool graphics. You might even put some of your earlier designs in there to refer back to at times when you need to.
11-8-11 GD
You can make something look taller by where you place the object you want to make look taller. Say if you put some thing on the edge of the screen that is already fairly tall it will make it look taller. Also if you put it in the back and at the edge it will look taller. To make something wider you would put it at the bottom or top of the screen and stretch it out.

What kind of video production would i like to do? i want to do a project on something fun and exciting. Like how to sell candy to little kids, or why hiring an exorcist for a teacher would be a bad idea. Something funny.

We finished chapter 3. We kinda sorta went over terms. I attempted to prove to Travis Smith, Casey Gore, and Kayleb Williams that i have a cousin that is in a music video.
11-2-11 VP
We went over four different kinds of scripts. A two-column script which is a two column script kind of self explanatory. Rundown has the most information on it. An outline script is what needs to be done. A film style is also a screen play or cast script so its the script that has what the talent is supposed to say.

I found what i want to do instead of the TV. The steps aren't as easy to read. It looks like a fun project though.

The most important thing in critiquing your project is making sure it has all the necessities. Ask your self who is my audience? Whose my competition? Where is it going to be at? What message am i trying to portray? What media am i using? If you think that you don't have all the answer to these questions then your project isn't done.

I gave up on my TV. I'm looking for a new project to do with a tutorial. I'm found a couple that are kind of interesting but I'm sure i can do it because of a lack of information. Tomorrow I will decide on one and start on it.
11-1-11 GD
1. Produce overall design. 2. When you have text you should produce them in Word and then copy past them over your text so that the curning is right. 3. Create all your art work in Photoshop but make sure your layout reads the kinds of files it uses. Also make sure the colors are the same. 4. Make sure that the colors you use in your design match the colors for the printer. 5. When you scan pictures its important to make sure you save it with the right color resolution. 6. Proof your work so that your client can see what it looks like. Then if and when he approves he can take it to his print man and make sure colors match. 7. When you send things to a printer make sure you have all your parts and pieces to it. 8. Put all your digital material on a CD or upload it to the printer's website. If you upload it make sure you use something so that it doesn't mess up the resolution. 9. Submit this all along with a full color printout so the client can see what it looks like all together. Also add a page of information saying name of job, date of submission, and so on and so forth.

We went over the different kind of producers. There is a lot that a producer has to do. They basically control everything. The line producer i think would be my favorite type of producer. They are right on the line. Up close and personal making sure that everything goes as planned in the production.
10-31-11 VP
They help with being a floor director. If you don't know them than you don't know then you won't know how to move the camera. Knowing all these commands makes being a floor director easier.

The treatment is the story like a script of what the TV show is going to be like. The proposal is the idea that you give to the TV company. They then decide if they want your idea.
I took the test. I passed with flying colors. I got 100% on the test. Truth be told i didn't really study other than in class.

Trucks and dollies both move so those are the only two that requires you to move the tripod with the camera. A pan you move side to side as if you had bacon in it. A pedestal moves up and down. A tilt is just tilting the camera up or down you don't move it.
10-25-11 GD
I didn't get anything done today. I didn't accomplish anything with my TV. I had to restart and it still isn't working like it should. I'm going to restart tomorrow. I most likely won't get anywhere. This TV project is not working for me.

When making a successful graphic design project you have to have many things. Strategy, concept, design, production and execution. Strategy, you have to have a design brief, convey the message, who are you talking to, what is being percieved.

THe visual and audio steps in a production are pretty important. The VU meter is the volume meter. The Wave form monitor is for monitoring videos.

Making a tv from scratch is hard and tedious work. For some odd reason computers hate me and i can't seem to ever get it to do what i need. Even though it is hard and tedious, it is a fun project.

start?
we will be starting by deciding what the producer wants to shoot. Where we are going to shoot the videe. And who is all going to be in our video.
Tuesday, October 11, 2011
10-11-11
We video taped multiple people getting beat up. We should have done more shooting if we had more time to. If we had the time we would have done more shots of each beating and probably done better editing and more scene changes so that it wouldn't have been as jumpy. We could have redone shots that didn't cut off heads. We also should have added ambiance in the back ground if we would have know that it would have helped.
We had an idea to drive around in a creepy van and selling candy to kids. That idea failed cause we didn't have a van or little kids to produce the video with. Our second idea was to have the principal do a peel in his Ford pick-up in an attempt to sell Fords. We changed our mind and decided to do a video for Mrs. Schmidt to get people to pay her.

I learned how to use all the different tools correctly. I also learned where all the tools all. What you can do with the tools and how to make selections easier.
Tools?

Examples
I like doing the examples better. I like them because they give you step by step and show you what it should look like. From the ones that i have done they also do interesting things. Also they give you other things to do if you have a MAC or PC depending on which one they do the tutorial with.

We are going to make a video for Mrs. Shmidt for getting people to pay her. We basically just have an idea of what we are doing but it is a pretty solid idea.
I learned
i learned how to duplicate layers. How to merge layers. and just how to work in photoshop more. That is what i learned today.

Proper Steps
Proper steps to making a video production is having all the people needed to make a video. You also have to have money and the place to make it.
Photoshop and Bridge
You set up a workspace in bridge by first opening Photoshop. To get rid of all the excess space on your computer click the button to expand photoshop to fill your whole screen. On the side of the screen there are tools on the right side of your photoshop. You can remove these or add more by clicking on windows at the top and clicking on what ever else you want in the tool bar. Then go up to essentials and click save new workspace. While in photoshop there will be a button that opens bridge up you click on that. It is basically the same to open a new workshop up in bridge.

Producer importunateness
The importance of the producer is to have the money and pick out the place for the shoot.
Graphics
When she taught you how to put them into separate tabs and make them fill up the whole screen. All of the little short cuts to the tools. The history tab to see where you have been if you forgot what you were doing. She told us how to move things around and delete things that arent wanted.

What did i learn
I learned that the Director is in charge of a bunch of people. I would like to learn more about the talent position. I know that without the Producer you cant have any of it. Im a natural born actress. So i would like to learn more about what the talent part does in the way of making money. What do they have to do to get paid the big bucks? This is what i learned yesterday.
Most important thing
The most important thing i learned this year was the copyright. With out copyright people could just steal other peoples original ideas. With copy right you can still use other peoples ideas but you have to give them credit or you might get sued. Copyright makes it so you can take pictures off the Internet and change and alter them. You have to use less than 10% of someone else's work or you might be breaking the law. That is what i think is most important that i learned this year.
Tuesday, September 13, 2011
What I learned about Copyright
That if you don't copyright your own original work people can copyright it. If you take other peoples work with out giving them credit you can get sued. If you take some one's work and change it so that it isn't the same thing you have to make sure that it is completely different and that you are using less than 10% of their original works. I don't really know much about the positions in video production. i know there is the person paying for it the product its self and the person buying it. Other than that i really don't know much.
Photoshop and Bridge
I don't really know a lot about photoshop of bridge. The only time i every really used photoshop was when i was messing around with some photos in my free time. I don't really know how to work it though.

Copyright Case
John Fogerty was accused of plagiarizing himself. He left "Creedence Clearwater Revival' and started writing his own music. When Fogerty recorded and released his song into his album "Centerfield" Zaentz filed a defamation of character. Later he filed another case claiming the lead track to the same album was a replica of a "CCR" song. John Fogerty walked into court with a guitar in hand and played the two songs for the judge. The judge ruled that the songs were completely different and only shared the same style. After that John filed against "Fantasy Records" for attorney charges. John won and was granted restitution from the U.S. Supreme Court.

Copyright
Before the copyright act was passed in 1976 you had to take your stuff into the copyright office to have it protected. Even after that was passed after a certain amount of time has passed your works could fall into the public domain. Since then those periods have extended. If you for instance make a music video it is copy righted for you life plus 70 years after you die. You can renew the copy right to a certain extent.

differences of GD VP
Graphic design has to deal with just pictures and video production has to deal with videos. Videos tell you a story where as pictures just give you a little information to get you interested. With videos you can express more. With pictures you limited as to how much people understand it. Pictures can be taken in many different ways and with videos you can some what limit the possibilities of what that can interpret it as.
What i learned.
I have learned that to have a good project you have to have a good foundation. A good foundation starts with the 5wh's for who is paying for the project, what the project is about, and who you are selling the project to. When you don't know who is paying for your project, or what that person is into you might end up making a project that they don't want and aren't going to sell. If you don't know the audience you are selling to you might make the project thinking that it is for 30 year old men when really its for 5 year old kids, you probably wont get paid for the work you did, or they are going to make you redo the whole. Basically if you don't ask the right questions you aren't going to get the project right, or you could be really good at guessing and get it right but that wont happen every time.

Subliminal Messaging in Pictures
It is important because just about every thing now a days has subliminal messaging in it. Just like pictures movies also have subliminal messaging. It can you give you more information about the person. Isn't always good information. People can also express their feeling through subliminal messaging.

Apple Inc.
Steve Jobs was one of the creators of Apple. I think just about every one knows what Apple products are but this article explains what Apple is. The Apple tablet was made in 2010 and even though analysts said people didn't need it, a lot of people wanted it. I think it shows much people wanted useless junk that they really don't need. The tablet is just a way for people to spend their money. Unlike the ipod which people use to help them exercise or get motivated. Most of the other stuff is just useless and people don't really need it.
